Kansas City South & North - Scholarships

PCI High School Scholarship – PCI recognizes the importance of providing educational opportunities for high school students in our area. PCI offers two $2,000 scholarships to each selected area high school to be awarded to deserving students. The scholarship must be applied toward tuition at PCI and cannot be exchanged for cash. The high school will select the recipient and notify PCI.

Imagine America Scholarship Program – The Imagine America Scholarship is a scholarship program administered by The Imagine America Foundation. High school students may contact their high school or visit www.petersons.com/cca/search.asp for more information on this program. Scholarships cannot be exchanged for cash. Scholarships are good for up to 12 months after the award date.

Legacy Scholarship – The Legacy Scholarship is a scholarship dedicated to assisting immediate family members of PCI students/alumni. Immediate family members (spouse, children, siblings and parents) of a current PCI student or graduate will receive a $1,000 Legacy Scholarship to be used toward tuition at PCI. The graduate family member must have graduated within 10 years of the immediate family member applying for this scholarship.

MAPImagine America’s Military Award Program (MAP) is a national aid program that was established in 2004 by the Imagine America Foundation. This $1,000 career education award is available to any active duty member or honorably discharged veteran of a United States military service branch for attendance at a participating career college. This scholarship can help those with military service receive a career education and make the transition from military to civilian life.

PCI Military Scholarship Program – Pinnacle Career Institute is proud to offer a scholarship to any currently active duty member or honorably discharged veteran of one of the United States armed forces in an amount not to exceed $3,500. Returning students must reapply for the Military Scholarship each academic year and demonstrate (a GPA of 3.0 or better and meet Pinnacle Career Institute’s attendance requirements.)

Students who believe that they qualify must submit an application and supporting documentation to the Financial Aid Office prior to the start of class. Applications will be evaluated by the Financial Aid Coordinator, and the amount of the grant will be awarded based on the student’s financial need less any other grants and TA/GI bill amounts, not to exceed the student’s tuition, fees and institutional charges.

Pinnacle Career Institute Agency Benefits and Matching Grants – For students sponsored by federal, state and local governmental and non-profit training and rehabilitation agencies (i.e., WIA, CAP and Displaced Workers under Workforce Development, Vocational Rehabilitation including Veterans’ Rehabilitation and The Services For The Blind), Pinnacle Career Institute makes available a limited number of matching grants.

Agency matching grants are made to facilitate career studies for individuals who meet PCI’s admissions requirements and are sponsored by governmental and non-profit organizations dedicated to sponsoring education and training for economically, physically or socially disadvantaged clients.

Current students may not directly apply for PCI’s agency matching grants. Rather, the decision to award an agency matching grant is made by the Campus Director as a result of Agency Representatives and staff recommendations and/or by the request of the sponsoring agency to make such a grant. The number of such grants varies depending upon outside agency sponsorship and the availability of budgeted funds. The matching grant given by Pinnacle Career Institute is determined by the following:

  • Tuition charges less the ITA (Individual Training Authorization) certification and any other federal grants and/or scholarships not to exceed the cost of tuition.

Financial Information

Return to Title IV Policy
For students who terminate and received Title IV funds, the institution is required by federal statute to recalculate federal financial aid eligibility for these students. A determination must be made to determine the amount of Title IV aid that was earned by the student. If the amount disbursed to the student was greater than the amount the student earned, unearned funds have to be returned. Up through 60% of the enrollment period or term, a pro rata schedule is used to determine the amount of Title IV funds the student has earned at the time of withdrawal.

After 60% of the enrollment period or term has been completed, the student has earned 100% of the Title IV funds that have been disbursed. In calculating the amount of Title IV funds earned, the school will use the following federal Title IV funds formula:

Percentage of payment period or term completed = the number of days completed up to the withdrawal date divided by the total days in the payment period or term.

This percentage is also the percentage earned. If a student earned less aid than was disbursed, the institution would be required to return a portion of the funds and the student would be required to return a portion of the funds. Keep in mind that when Title IV funds are returned, the student borrower may owe a debit balance to the institution.

If a student earned more aid than was disbursed to him/her, the institution would owe the student a postwithdrawal disbursement which must be paid within 120 days of the student’s withdrawal. Refunds are allocated in the following order:

Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans (other than PLUS loans); Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans; Direct Parent (PLUS) loans; Federal Pell Grants for which a Return of funds is required; Federal Supplemental Opportunity Grants for which a return of funds is required.

Other Agency Return Policies
If a student is terminated or withdraws from school prior to completing the program, Pinnacle Career Institute will follow the return policies for any third-party agency funding the student may have received.

General Tuition Refund Policy
Tuition is refundable according to the following schedule. If a student officially withdraws from school or if a student is officially terminated by the school, that date becomes the Date of Determination. Upon withdrawal, the student’s last day of attendance will be ascertained. An unofficial withdrawal means the student stopped attending for 15 consecutive days without official notification. If a student unofficially withdraws from school, the 14th calendar day after the student’s last day of attendance becomes the Date of Determination. (The 14-day period does not include scheduled breaks of 5 days or more.) Book fees, lab fees and clothing item costs are not refundable; the cost of these items will be deducted prior to the refund calculations
